FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Sunday, the ShinDigZ National Soccer Festival wrapped up play with the final three men's collegiate games at IPFW's Hefner Soccer Complex.
In the first game, IPFW took on 26th-ranked Duke. The Blue Devils would get on the scoreboard first when Daniel Tweed-Kent took the center pass and booted it past Mastodon keeper Ryan Bristol. Duke led 1-0 at the half. IPFW would get the equalizer in the 50th minute when Jason Mills fired in his own rebound as the Mastodons and Blue Devils played to a 1-1 draw. IPFW's season opener is next Sunday when they host Bradley at the Hefner Soccer Complex.
In the second game, IU battled Xavier. The Hoosiers had multiple chances on the attack, but Musketeers goalie Andre Bezerra would save every shot. Xavier would notch the only goal of the game in the 78th minute when Luke Spencer kicked in a loose ball at the goal line after South Side grad and IU keeper Nate Mitchell had the ball pinned against the crossbar, but lost control when he fell to the ground allowing Spencer to knock the ball into the net.
In the final game, Ohio State and Denver played to a 1-1 draw.
