USF Falls At Marian In NAIA Quarters

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WANE) - For the third straight season, the University of Saint Francis football team saw its season come to an end in the NAIA quarterfinals.  The Cougars were not able to avenge a regular season loss to then-number one Marian University.  The Knights beat the Cougars, 45-34.

Marian took a 17-point lead to start the the game, before Saint Francis scored a touchdown before halftime.  In the second half, the two teams would exchange knockout punches, with Marian outscoring USF, 28-27.

Marian running back, Tevin Lake scored three rushing touchdowns.  He carried the ball 30 times and rushed for 141 yards.

USF quarterback David Yoder completed 25-of-42 passes.  He kept the Cougars in it with three touchdowns.  His favorite target in the game was Aaron Knight who led the team with six receptions.  Two catches were for a touchdown.

Saint Francis' season ends with a 9-3 record.
