FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Behind a Jackson Tooke second half goal, the IPFW Mastodons won their second straight contest of the 2012 season, topping the Falcons of Bowling Green by a 2-1 score on Tuesday evening.

The Mastodons improve to 2-12-1, while the Falcons fall to 5-7-2.

The teams traded five shots in a quick first 30 minutes of action, before the Falcons were got on the scoreboard with 11:24 left on the first-half clock when Anthony Grant took a pass and beat an IPFW defender, before beating IPFW goalkeeper Brandon Cloutier towards the middle, and proceeded to put the ball into the back of the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage.

The Mastodons countered with 43 seconds left in the first half when IPFW freshman Jose Rodriguez was fouled inside the box, setting up a penalty kick for IPFW senior Mitch Falkenstern, who beat Bowling Green goalkeeper Michael Wiest in the left upper 90, knotting the score at one apiece.

Neither team was able to put together anything offensively in the final 43 seconds, and the squads went into the locker room knotted at one goal apiece.

A physical 35 minutes of soccer opened the second half, as the teams combined for 13 fouls and and pair of yellow cards. The 1-1 tie would come to an end in the 80th minute when Nate Shipman sent a ball up the left side of the field to Tooke, who took the ball and blasted a shot from 30 yards out, beating Wiest far post, and giving the 'Dons a 2-1 advantage.

The Mastodons kept on the offensive despite the lead, putting two shots on goal in the final 10 minutes of play, coming up empty on each, but were able to secure the 2-1 lead.

Tooke had a team-high four shots - three on goal - while Falkenstern and Kyle Ackerman had a pair apiece. Cloutier had two saves, allowing the one goal, in picking up his second straight goalkeeper victory.

IPFW looks to continue its win streak on Saturday evening, when the squad hosts the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland University in the second match of a women's / men's double header, the women starting at 5:30 and the men scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
