WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Purdue's season is still alive as the Boilermakers beat Western Illinois 81-67 on Wednesday night at Mackey Arena in the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational.
The Boilers advance to the CBI quarterfinals where they will host Santa Clara on Monday.
Purdue was led by A.J. Hammons with 15 points and Ronnie Johnson with 14.
Fort Wayne native Rapheal Davis added 12 points and five rebounds for Purdue.
The Boilers are now 16-17 on the season.
