NEW YORK - After wins against Rutgers and Marquette the Irish ran out of luck on Friday night, falling to Louisville 69-57 in the semifinals of the Big East tournament.
Jack Cooley and Jerian Grant each scored 14 points to pace Notre Dame. Russ Smith tallied 20 to lead Louisville.
Notre Dame - the sixth seed in the tournament - trailed second-seeded Louisville by seven at the half.
Louisville will now face Syracuse in the Big East title game tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m.
Notre Dame falls to 25-9 on the season. The Irish now await "Selection Sunday" to see where they fit into the NCAA tournament. You can see the CBS Selection Show at 6 p.m. this Sunday on WANE-TV.
