SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WANE) - Bishop Dwenger graduate and senior tight end Tyler Eifert is one of four players who will serve as a captain for the 2012 Notre Dame football team.

Eifert joins offensive tackle Zack Martin as an offensive captain. Linebacker Manti Te'o and defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore will be the team's defensive captains.

Last year coach Brian Kelly had just one permanent captain - safety Harrison Smith.

The Irish open the season in Ireland this Saturday at 9 a.m. eastern against Navy. You can see that game on WANE-TV.
