ANGOLA, Ind. (WANE) - Trine opened the 2012 season with a 24-14 win over regional rival Manchester at Shive Field on Thursday night in Angola.
Trine got on the board first when quarterback Ryan Hargraves scored on a two-yard keeper in the second quarter to give the Thunder a 7-0 lead.
Manchester answered later in the second when Austin Adams scooted in from seven yards out to tie the game at 7-7. Myron Puryear returned the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a score and Tyler Keck kicked a field goal with 13 seconds left in the second quarter to give the Thunder a 17-7 lead at half.
Elmhurst grad and Manchester quarterback Nick Williams scored on an 18 yard run with less than seven minutse to play in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 17-14. However, a Hargraves 11 yard scamper for a score with 33 seconds left in the game sealed the deal for Trine.
