MUNCIE, Ind. - Keith Wenning, a junior quarterback for the Ball State football team, was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week.

Wenning shares this week's award with Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch and Central Michigan quarterback Ryan Radcliff.

Wenning threw for 244 yards in Ball State's 31-27 win vs. Big East Conference opponent South Florida Saturday. He became only the fourth quarterback in Ball State history to pass for 5,000 or more yards in a career as he has now passed for 5,020 yards in his career.

Wenning made his 26th career start vs. South Florida, threw his 37th and 38th career touchdown passes against the Bulls and now ranks fourth on Ball State's all-time list. He moved past current assistant coach Joey Lynch, who threw 37 TD passes from 2003-06. He completed 24-of-36 passes against the Bulls with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Wenning has led the Cardinals to back-to-back wins over Indiana of the Big Ten Conference and South Florida. It marks the first time in school history Ball State has beaten teams from the Football Bowl Subdivision automatic qualifying conferences in consecutive games and twice in one season.

Ball State, 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Mid-American Conference, will play at Kent State Saturday in MAC action. The game is slated for a noon start and will be available on ESPN3. The Cardinals return home for back-to-back games Oct. 6 and Oct. 13 vs. Central Michigan and Northern Illinois, respectively.
