TERRE HAUTE, IN. (WANE) - The Carroll boys cross country team finished in second at the state meet on Saturday afternoon - totaling 116 points, 23 behind winner Carmel. The Chargers had three runners finish in the top 20, including Jonathan Harper who finished 8th in a time of 15:43. Warsaw finished in fourth.
Concordia junior Zachary Panning finished second overall in the individual standings, just over five seconds behind state champion Connor Sorrell of Barr-Reeve who turned in a time of 15:21.3. Warsaw's Jacob Poyner and Ellis Coon finished 6th and 8th respectively.
In the girls meet the Chargers again performed well, with the girls finishing in 6th with a final total of 174. Carroll had three top-50 finishes, led by Olivia Hippensteel who placed 21st in 19:08.
Warsaw's Ashley Erba - one of the favorites in the individual race - finished in second with a time of 17:29.2. Mishawaka sophomore sensation Anna Rohrer claimed her first state title in a blistering time of 17:13.2.
