For the first time in school history Bishop Dwenger will play for a state softball title as the Saints face Boonville in the 3A title championship game Saturday at Ben Davis high school in Indianapolis.
Ranked eighth in the state, 26-2 Dwenger has rattled off 22 straight wins. Boonville comes in with the number one ranking and a 34-1 record.
The Saints have outscored opponents 51-4 in the postseason. Junior Andrea Filler is hitting an unbelievable, state-best .716 while posting just a 1.28 ERA on the hill.
Game time is at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The team leaves at noon from the school and fans are invited to be there at 11:30 a.m. for a send-off party.
