LEO, Ind. (WANE) - Leo is coming off the best season in school history and looking to carry that success over to the 2012 sesaon.
Despite jumping up from 3A to 4A last fall the Lions made it all the way to semi-state before falling in a tight game to South Bend Washington. The Lions finished the year 13-1 overall and won their third conference title in a row.
Coach Jared Sauder is back for his seventh season leading the program, but the Lions must replace several key position players. Gone is record-setting receiver Gage Corner, quarterback Ryan Leiter, and all-ACAC running back Trevon Carr. Sam Waters will be the team's new starting quarterback and the athletic Reid Rohrbacher will be counted on to step up both as a linebacker and a running back.
The Lions open the season August 17 against Norwell.
