KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (WANE) - After 11 years under Chris DePew the East Noble football program is undergoing a changing of the guard.
DePew left Kendallville to coach his alma mater in Garrett high school. Luke Amstutz is now leading the Knights after spending the last four seasons as the head coach in Angola.
DePew went 77-41 with the Knights and led them to four NHC titles. He also guided East Noble to state in 2003. Amstutz went 26-15 at Angola.
East Noble went 7-4 last season with running back Evan Croy (1,245 yards) leading the way. Croy has graduated but the coaching staff is high on junior Brandon Mable at the running back position. Quarterback Nick Weimer threw for five touchdowns last year and will assume a bigger role in the offense this fall as a senior.
East Noble opens the season next Friday at home against Northrop.
