FORT WAYNE, IN. -  After finishing seventh at state a year ago - the Warsaw boys golf team is returning to the final weekend of the high school golf season. Led by a third place finish from senior Tyler Ostrom, the Tigers shot a collective 308 on Thursday afternoon - a full 14 shots better than second place Bishop Dwenger (322). Northridge claimed the third team bid for state with a score of 323.

Individually, Lakeland may have had the strongest showing of the day. Spencer Mortola won the individual regional crown by shooting a 74. He needed a one-hole playoff to break a tie with East Noble's Michael Sharp who also shot a 74. Mortola birdied the first hole to claim the win. Tyler Ostrom tied for third with Lakeland's Cody Richardson.

Mortola, Sharp and Richardson all advance to the state finals as individuals. Ostrom joins his Warsaw team, along with Bishop Dwenger and Northridge at state as well.

The state finals begin Tuesday at Legends Golf Course in Franklin.
