FORT WAYNE. IN. (WANE) - A trio of Snider standouts signed national letters of intent on Wednesday morning. Brandon Phelps will play baseball at IPFW, Somer Johnson will suit up for the Dons volleyball team and Meredith Shipman is off to Western Michigan on a basketball scholarship.
Phelps is a standout on the gridiron as well as the diamond, serving as quarterback for the Panthers. He was named defensive MVP for the baseball team as a junior and is expected to compete for a spot in the IPFW pitching rotation immedietely.
Somers is a three-time First-Team All-SAC selection in volleyball, earning offensive MVP honors for Snider each of the last three years as well. She will join a program rich in success and tradition at IPFW.
Shipman is also a multi-sport athlete, earning First-Team All-SAC honors in soccer as a senior, but her greatest success has been on the hardwood. Shipman has lettered each of the last three years with the Panthers, all teams that were crowned Regional champions. She was a First-Team All-SAC selection as a junior.
