FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Canterbury senior teammates Sam Stronczek and Cole Walker both signed National Letters of Intent to continue their soccer careers and play at IUPUI. Both are members of the 16-6-1 state championship teams that won back to back titles with a 5-0 win this year over Covenant Christian. They will continue their soccer careers that started as teammates in the third grade.
Sam is a strong hard-nosed defender that is very tough in the air. Defensively, he has marked to frustration some of the best players in the state and midwest during the last two championship years and become the mainstay of a tough defense. He is strong in the air defensively, reads the flow of play well, and on restarts is an offensive threat - tallying three goals for the Cavaliers.
Cole is a skilled offensive player with 7 goals and 4 assists this year that helped solidify the central midfield in the run to the championship. As a junior, he was named to the ISCA All-District team after a year in which he scored 5 goals, and had a team leading 13 assists. Cole is strong on the ball and attacks well.
