FORT WAYNE, IN. (WANE) - Behind a monstrous 27-point, 15-rebound effort from Hayley Martin, DeKalb edged Northrop 55-45 Friday night at Northrop High School. The Barons only shot 38 percent from the floor, but held a 10-rebound advantage on the glass and forced the Bruins into 22 turnovers. Northrop was led by 29 points from Aleah Swary who shot 10-of-16, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
At Carroll, the Chargers let a seven-point halftime lead slip away in the fourth as Bishop Dwenger rallied for a 64-61 win on the road. Ally Christman poured in a game-high 30 points for the Saints who scored 26 points in the final quarter. Carroll was led by the hot shooting of Madison Peterson who dropped 26 points.
Across town at Homestead, the Spartans held home court with a 58-32 win over Huntington North. Homestead has been receiving votes in the most recent 4A state polls.
