AUBURN, IN. - Five days after being crowned Class A softball state champions, the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers closed the book on their storybook season. The team assembled one final time Thursday afternoon to turn in their uniforms, enjoy a few laughs and receive some parting words from the coaching staff.

The Panthers upended Indianapolis Lutheran last Saturday 3-2 in the state finals - avenging a 5-1 loss to Tecumseh in the previous years championship game. Lakewood Park Christian will be in prime position to defend its title in 2013 as well - the team graduates just two seniors and returns the ace of its pitching staff in Mikeila Borff.

Tune in next Tuesday as the Panthers will be appearing on the final Team of the Week segment for the 2011-2012 school year.
