FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The country's best linebacker stayed true to his commitment as Bishop Luers senior Jaylon Smith signed with Notre Dame on Wednesday, the first day senior could sign for football.

Smith, who won the Butuks Awards as the best prep linebacker in the nation, is part of a Notre Dame signing class ranked in the top five by most recruiting websites. Smith is considered by many to be the best player in ND's signing class.

Luers senior Michael Rogers also got a chance to celebrate, as the standout receiver signed with Bowling Green. He follows in the footsteps of former Luers quarterback James Knapke, who inked with the Falcons last February.
