FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Click on the VIDEO tab to see WANE's interview with Roderick Smith along with highlights from his junior season.
With scholarship offers from Michigan, Tennessee, Michigan State, Iowa, and Purdue on the table Roderick Smith has made his college decision - he's going to be a Buckeye.
A senior-to-be at Harding high school, Smith has verbally committed to play for Ohio State in 2010. Verbal commitments are non-binding and athletes cannot sign a scholarship until the first week of February.
Ranked as one of the top ten high school running backs by a multitude of recruiting websites & publication, Smith is considered one of the front-runner for Indiana's Mr. Football Award this coming season.
At 6-foot-3, 220 lbs., Smith is a physically imposing back that may remind Ohio State fans of Eddie George and/or Chris "Beanie" Wells in terms of his stature
As a junior, Smith rushed for 1,475 yards. He piled up 3,580 yards combined as a freshman and sophomore.
