Bishop Luers quarterback James Knapke is adding to his already full trophy case as the senior won the Euell A. Wilson Award at the Journal Gazette's Fall Athletic Awards Banquet on Monday night.
The Wilson Award goes to the SAC's top football player. Knapke is the SAC's all-time leader in passing yards and touchdown passes. He led Luers to its third 2A state title in a row and helped the Knights capture their first conference title since 2001.
Concordia senior Marah Bradbury took home the Glass Spike award for the SAC's best volleyball player. Bradbury guided the Cadets to a 30-7 season and a regional title. She finished sixth in the state with 1,086 assists this year.
The Wilson Award has been presented since 1992, the Glass Spike since 1996.
Trish Miller of Concordia High School received the SAC Coach of the Year award for volleyball. Ryan Hall of North Side High School received the SAC Coach of the Year award for football.

This annual banquet honoring both the top volleyball and football players took place on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Marquis Ballroom at the Fort Wayne Marriott Hotel, Coldwater Road.
