FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Indiana University basketball recruit James Blackmon, Jr. says he's "100 percent healthy" after tearing the ACL in his left knee during his sophomore season at Bishop Luers.
Luers - like most boys high school teams in the state of Indiana - opened practice on Monday, November 5. The Knights are coming off a 14-9 season in 2011-12 that saw them win the SAC title.
Their run in the IHSAA tournament ended in sectional play, in part because Blackmon tore the ACL in a game on February 4, leaving Luers short-handed.
After sitting out AAU ball this summer rehabbing the injury, Blackmon is poised to have a big season as a junior. He will be joined on the Luers roster by his younger brother Vijay Blackmon. Vijay received a scholarship offer from Tom Crean and the Hoosier last month when he was in Bloomington attending practice.
Blackmon, Jr. committed to Indiana before playing a game during his freshman season at Bishop Luers. He is rated by Rivals.com as the no. 47 prospect in the country for the class of 2014 .
Luers opens the season December 1 at Mishawaka Marian.
