FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Defending state champion Bishop Dwenger flexed its muscle on Thursday at Concordia high school as the Saints marched their way to a sectional title in gymnastics.
Dwenger - ranked second in the state's latest poll - tallied 109.075 points en route to the team victory. Carroll finished second at 103.950 with third-place Homestead close behind at 103.550. Northrop (102.125) and Snider (95.900) round out the top five.
Individually, Dwenger's Katy Linvill won the overall title with a score of 36.100. Homestead's Megan Eggebrecht finished second (34.950) while Heritage's Rachael Anderson came in third (34.750).
Dwenger's Kaitlyn Coffee took first in the vault with a score of 9.450, while Linville won the bars (9.200) and the floor (9.450). Dwenger's Alena Chilian (9.050) won the beam.
Regionals are set for next Friday at Huntington North.
