GVB: Regional Champions Crowned

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Regional volleyball championships were up for grabs all around northeast Indiana on Tuesday night.

In 4A play at Huntington North it was Carroll beating Huntington North 3-1. The Vikings end the year at 22-14. Carroll improves to 27-8 and moves on to semi-state this Saturday where they will face Penn at Huntington North at 11 a.m. Carroll was led by Audrey Mallers with 20 kills while Charlotte Conser added 16.

In 3A action Concordia lost to Fairfield 3-1( 25-18, 25-16, 21‐25, 25‐20). Concordia ends the year 23-12. Fairfield plays Andrean at Plymouth in semi-state action at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

In 3A play at Yorktown it was no. 2 Bellmont falling to the top-ranked Tigers 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20). Bellmont ends the year at 30-5.

2A action saw Adams Central take down Westview 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-20). Westview ends the year 24-11. Adams Central improves to 22-8. The Jets will play Southwood at semi-state at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bremen after Southwood swept Clinton Central on Tuesday night.

Out at Blackhawk in 1A it was Marquette Catholic over Blackhawk 3-1. The Braves end the year 26-7 (25-19,25-16,16-25,25-23). Blackhawk was led by Marta Bleed with 17 kills. Marquette is now 17-19 on the year and will face Cowan at semi-state.
