FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - 2A no. 16 Bishop Dwenger edged SAC rival Snider 2-1 to win the girls sectional title at Carroll high school on Thursday night.
Dwenger's Madeline Pollifrone and Snider's Mckenzie Kell each scored goals in the first half to knot the game at 1-1. A penalty kick by Kellee O'shaughnessy in the second half gave Dwenger the lead for good.
2A GIRLS SOCCER
In semifinal action at Warsaw the host Tigers beat Wawasee 9-0. NorthWood edged Plymouth 2-1 in the other semifinal. The sectional title game will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday night between Warsaw and NorthWood
At Angola it was DeKalb over East Noble 4-0 and Leo over Angola 7-0. DeKalb and Leo will meet for the sectional championship at noon on Saturday.
In Columbia City the host Eagles blanked North Side 7-0 behind four goals from Hannah Wappes. In the late game 2A no. 6 Homestead beat Huntington North 6-0 with Kelsey Wendlandt netting a hat-trick. Columbia City and Homestead will play for a championship at 3 p.m. Saturday.
At Norwell New Haven topped Norwell 2-1 behind goals from Katie Loser and Amber Collins. In the nightcap South Side edged Bellmont 2-1 behind goals from Kaitlyn Hayes and Maria Moore. New Haven and South Side will play for the sectional crown at 2 p.m. Saturday.
1A GIRLS SOCCER
At Garrett it was Westview over Central Noble 7-0 and West Noble over Garrett 1-0. The championship match is set for noon Saturday between West Noble and Westview.
At South Adams Eastbrook bested Woodlan 6-1. Canterbury will face Concordia in semifinal action Saturday at 10 a.m. with Bishop Luers to face Eastbrook at noon. The winners will meet in the sectional title game at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
At Blackford Whitko fell to Oak Hill 2-1 and North Miami lost to Peru 2-1. Oak HIll and Peru will play for the sectional championship at noon Saturday.
