GSOC: Homestead Wins Sectional Title

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Homestead girls soccer program won its 14th sectional championship in 19 years of IHSAA-sanctioned soccer as the Spartans topped Columbia City 6-0.

Homestead's Kelsey Wendlandt scored all three of her goals in the first half to lead the Spartans. Karly Gotcshall, Ari Nelson, and Hope Martin all scored a goal apiece. Alexis Stine tallied two saves to lead Homestead.

Columbia City's Adriana Brown saved 29 shots in the loss.

Homestead improves to 16-1-1. The Spartans will play Leo (13-3-2) Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in the East Noble regional.

Columbia City ends the season 4-12-2.
