FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Two top 15 programs in 2A battled in NHC play at Carroll Monday night as the no. 7 Chargers hosted no. 14 Homestead. The Spartans used a second half surge to top the Chargers 4-3.
Homestead improves to 11-1-1 on the season while Carroll falls to 10-2-1.
Tori Minnich scored two goals in the first half as Carroll led 3-1 at intermission. However, the second half was all Homestead as Kelsey Wendlandt, Ari Nelson, and Morgann Williams each scored in the final 40 minutes to lead the Spartans to a 4-3 win.
In boys action Homestead topped Carroll 2-0 on second half goals by Chris Anderson and Rashaan Stephens. Zach McFarland registered a shutout in goal for Homestead. The Spartans improve to 8-4-2 overall and 5-1 in the NHC. Carroll falls to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in conference.
