FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - 2A no. 16 Bishop Dwenger topped 2A no. 9 Carroll Tuesday night to headline first round action of girls soccer sectionals in northeast Indiana.
Tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime the Dwenger-Carroll game went to penalty kicks. Dwenger convert the team's first four kicks while Carroll missed two of five, with the last kick sealing their fate. Dwenger moves on to the sectional title game at 7 p.m. on Thursday when the Saints will face Snider. The Panthers beat Northrop 8-1 in the late game on Tuesday.
In sectional action at Norwell it was Bellmont over Wayne 5-0. The Squaws will face South Side Thursday in the semifinals.
In 1A play at Garrett it was Central Noble over Lakewood Park 5-1 and Westview over Lakeland 6-0.
At South Adams it was Concordia over South Adams 6-0. The Cadets, ranked no. 20 in 1A, will play no. 11 Canterbury Saturday at 10 a.m. in semifinal action.
