FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Kellogg Community College infielder Jon Timmerman, of Huntertown, Ind., has committed to play baseball for Division I school Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne during the 2013-14 season. Timmerman is a Carroll high school graduate who helped the Chargers win the 4A state title in 2010 & 2011.
"Jon is a tough-nosed, blue-collar player that has impacted our program greatly," said KCC's head baseball coach Eric Laskovy. "I am happy to see him return home to continue his career at IPFW and be an immediate contributor."
Timmerman is one of five KCC sophomore baseball players who have committed to play for Division I schools during the 2013-14 season, continuing what Laskovy called a strong tradition of moving players along to quality four-year institutions. "We expect several more Bruins in this sophomore class to follow suit this spring," he said.
