BSOC: BD, HHS Open Sectionals With Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Boys sectional soccer action opened all across the state on Monday with some tight games in northeast Indiana.

2A BOYS SOCCER

In sectional 10 action at Hefner Fields Carroll and Bishop Dwenger played went to a shootout tied at 0-0. Dwenger converted three penalty shots while Carroll converted just two, resulting in a 1-0 win for the Saints. In the late game at Henfer Northrop and Snider also went to penalty kicks with the Bruins prevailing. Dwenger and Northrop will play for a sectional title at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

In sectional 11 action at Pat Teagarden Field North Side blanked Columbia City 3-0 behind a pair of goals from Ibrahim Souleimane. In the nightcap Homestead edged Huntington North 3-2. It means and North Side and Homestead will play in the sectional title match at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

In sectional 12 play at Norwell the host Knights topped South Side 3-1. Norwell moves on to face Bellmont in second round action on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

1A BOYS SOCCER

At Westview it was Central Noble over Prairie Heights 4-0. The Cougars advance to face Westview at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the semifinals.

At Hamilton Eastside beat Central Noble 2-1. The Blazers will now play in the semifinals Wednesday against Lakewood Park Christian.

At Blackhawk Logan West scored two goals as Bishop Luers beat Woodlan 6-1. The Knights advance to face Blackhawk at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in sectional semifinal play.

1A GIRLS SOCCER

At South Adams 1A no. 11 Canterbury topped Heritage 4-0. The Cavaliers move on to the semifinals which begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
