FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Homestead held off a gritty Huntington North team 48-42 to headline local action as boys basketball season tipped off in earnest in northeast Indiana.

In Waterloo 4A no. 5 Northrop topped DeKalb 74-64. Brenton and Bryson Scott combined for 44 points to pace the Bruins. DeKalb was led by Cole Hartman with 24 points.

At Charger Fieldhouse sophomore Chandler White scored 27 for Carroll but the Chargers fell to South Bend Adams 74-52.

In Bluffton the 2A no. 17 Tigers opened the season with a 66-52 win over Eastbrook. Jackson Lambert had 16 to lead the Tigers.

At Norwell the 3A no. 5 Knights topped Fremont 88-52. Josh VanMeter led Norwell with 23 points while Tyler Jenkins had 31 in the loss.
