11/16 Girls Prep Basketball Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - 4A no. 4 South Side scored the first 23 points at Charger Fieldhouse to beat Carroll 81-33 in headlining local girls basketball action on Friday night.

South was led by De'Joyah Johnson with 13 points. Brittany Clopton added 12 while Ariana Simmons and Chelsea Rogers each netted 10.

Amy Poyter led Carroll with eight points.

At Leo the 3A no. 12 Lions topped New Haven 76-41 behind a school-record 42 points from Taylor Seiss. Seiss was 7-of-8 on two-point shots, 8-of-12 on three-pointers, and 4-for-4 from the line. Teammate Keanna Gary recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

At Wayne the Generals topped Marion 55-49. Wayne was led by Carmen James and Joey Stanford with 14 points apiece. Veronnica Drake led Marion with 12 points while Julie Cardwell had 11.
