High school seniors across the country put pen to paper Wednesday, confirming their plans to attend NCAA Division I and Division II institutions to play college sports. Two members of Canterbury High School’s Class of 2010 were part of that group.

Tabitha Gerardot is a forward for the two-time defending Class A state champion Lady Cavaliers basketball team. A four-year starter, Gerardot has averaged 17.5 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game during her career, and owns the IHSAA state finals record for rebounds in a game with 17, which she achieved in the 2008 championship game against University, and tied in the 2009 championship game against Vincennes Rivet. At the conclusion of the 2008-09 season, Gerardot was named a member of the prestigious Indiana Junior All-Star team, earned AP 2nd team All State honors, and was honored as part of the IBCA underclass All State team.

“Tabitha is clearly one of the top players in the state, and one of the finest young ladies I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach,” said Canterbury head girls basketball coach Scott Kreiger. “Her list of personal and team achievements is remarkable. Tabitha has maximized her God-given talents with humility and a work ethic that is second to none; any coach would be thrilled to have her in his program.”

Gerardot will attend Valparaiso University in the fall to play for head coach Keith Freeman.

Claire Liles has played #1 singles during all three of her years as a member of the Canterbury girls tennis team, and has compiled a record of 49-21 over that span, including a 16-5 record during the 2009 season. A three-time member of the News-Sentinel All Area team, Liles has been named All State Honorable Mention during each of her three years of high school tennis. She was also a key member of the Canterbury team that advanced to the finals of the Concordia semi-state before losing to Zionsville in 2008.

"Claire has been an integral part of the Canterbury tennis program from her first day on the team as a freshman,” said Canterbury head tennis coach Jerry Gerig. “She has played a vital role in the success the team has experienced over the last three years. Claire ranks right at the top of the list of excellent players to come through the Canterbury tennis program."

Liles plans to attend the University of Indianapolis, where her sister, Ashley, played for the Greyhounds tennis team from 2004-2008.
