FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Middle school student, Alison Mansfield made it her mission to help the troops.
In the past few years, Alison has collected socks to send to the troops and most recently had a garage sale. All of the profits went to send care packages to soldiers overseas.
Saturday, June 20th, Alison teamed up with My Menu to host a cookout for the troops. They served burgers, brats, chips and bottled water, all for a dollar each.
"This has been awesome and a lot of people have showed up. We've had lines going all the way out there, so come by. It's great food and really great price. It's great the community has helped out," said Mansfield.
All the money raised Saturday goes to help Alison's military project.
