Aishah Hasnie is a reporter for NewsChannel 15. She joined the news team in October, 2008.
Prior to that, she was the afternoon anchor/reporter at Fort Wayne's News Talk 1190 WOWO.
Aishah was born in Pakistan, but grew up in Bedford, IN. She has also lived in Saudi Arabia. She loves history and languages. She's fortunate to be fluent in three and familiar with three more.
She received her B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Indiana University. There, she was a Dick Yoakam Broadcast Journalism Scholar. She was also the main anchor for IU's student television and wrote for the student newspaper.
Aishah has been in TV news since she was 18. Her first on-air experience was as an intern at WICS-TV in Springfield, IL. Soon after starting, she was promoted as a general assignment reporter and became the youngest reporter in the station's history. Her career has also taken her to WTHR-TV in Indianapolis and to GEO-TV, an international network based in Pakistan. Before she made the move to Fort Wayne to be closer to family, she was reporting for WICD-TV in Champaign, IL.
Journalism is Aishah's passion, because it gives her the opportunity to learn something new each day, close gaps between people, and open up the world to others. The story that impacted her the most was a documentary about the 2005 South Asian earthquake, where she interviewed a Pakistani man who lost his home and several friends. She has also interviewed various political figures in the U.S. and abroad.
All of that aside, Aishah is an all around southern Indiana girl. She loves target shooting with her dad, playing soccer, and spending time with her family.
