FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Incumbent John Peirce has been ousted as board member for Fort Wayne Community Schools.
In the District 2 matchup, challenger Glenna Jehl defeated Peirce easily, 62 percent to 38 percent. Jehl won the vote total, 9,370-5,864 according to the Allen County Elections Board.
Peirce became a board member after an application process by the FWCS board in the summer of 2008 to replace board member Carol Coen, who resigned. Peirce finished the term and was re-elected in Nov. 2008.
Jehl previously managed Matt Kelty's unsuccessful bid as the Republican mayoral candidate in Fort Wayne in 2007.
Peirce is the current vice-president of the FWCS board.
Becky Hill, incumbent in District 3, won re-election. She faced a challenge from Michael Davis and Kerry Miller. Hill garnered 52 percent of the vote, Davis ended up with 32 percent and Miller with 16 percent.
Steve Corona, an FWCS board member for 21 years won unopposed in District 5.
