FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A water main break sent water gushing onto Taylor Street Tuesday morning, causing part of the road to cave-in. It was closed for several hours while crews worked to repair it.

Because of that, part of Taylor Street between Fairfield Avenue and Broadway Avenue was closed for several hours.

The pipe that broke is a 6 inch cast iron pipe that is over 100-years-old. Gushing water washed away dirt under the road, which caused the street to cave-in.

A 72 inch brick sewer pipe dating back to the early 1900’s has also been damaged by the rushing water.
