WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) - A Warsaw man has been arrested on a felony charge of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death in connection with a car crash that killed his girlfriend earlier this month.
Investigators with the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department believe Samuel "Sammy" Davis, Jr., 34, had been drinking when he drove head-on into a tree near the intersection of Old Road 30 and CR 350 West at about 4:30 a.m. on March 2.
Victoria L. Anderson, 22, of Warsaw was a passenger in the vehicle and she was pronounced dead at the scene from massive internal injuries.
When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they found DAvis pinned behind the steering wheel. He was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital and has since been released. Davis is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $50,000 bond.
An initial blood test reveled that Davis had been drinking. Legal results are still pending from the state lab.
