FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne couple went aboard the world's largest cruise ship on its maiden voyage.
At nearly 1200 ft long, Royal Caribbean officials say the Oasis of the Seas is five times larger than the Titanic. The ship can carry up to 6300 passengers. On its historic maiden voyage last week, it carried Bob Jehl and Dianna Holmes.
"We're flying in and you can see the ship. That's how big it is! We land and you can still see the ship! It is that big!" said Jehl.
The maiden voyage didn't come without some first time nerves for the couple. "Just wondering if everything is going to work okay!" said Holmes.
The pair spent four days ice skating, swimming, rock climbing, and riding on a zip line.
"We really didn't know what day it was from day to day. Because you were just in your own world," said Holmes.
The pair say it was a fantastic world away, but not without the occasional reminder of home.
"We ran into somebody from Huntington," laughed Holmes. "We were walking past a lady and asked her to take our picture and only to discover that she was from Huntington! So that was quite coincidental."
The cruise ship docked in Haiti for a day before heading back Friday.
