SYRACUSE, Ind. (WANE) - A longtime friend of the woman Congressman Mark Souder had an affair with, calls her a "great person" devoted to her family and community.
NewsChannel 15 confirmed, Tuesday, Tracy Jackson is the woman Souder cheated with.
Jackson joined Congressman Souder's staff in 2004. She handled communications in his district office and periodically travelled with Souder to various events. Jackson also hosted daily commentaries that the Congressman would record and that aired on local Christian radio station WFCV.
In her hometown of Syracuse, Jackson is already well known. She's on the Kosciusko County Community board. Her husband is the President of the Kosciusko County Commissioners. The Jackson family owns a construction business in town.
A friends who asked to remain anonymous, tells NewsChannel 15 Jackson is a "great person." He said the Jacksons are a "wonderful family" and that he's "just as shocked as anyone" over the scandal.
NewsChannel 15 tried several times to contact Jackson for a comment, but our calls were not immediately returned.
