FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - In NewsChannel 15's special project last month, 28 people in northeast Indiana shared their thoughts and ideas about how to turn the country around. Now "Saving America: 28 Ideas in 28 Days" is being heard in Washington D.C.
"It was a big project for us, but I think it came at just the right time," Ted Linn, NewsChannel 15's news director, said.
Now the messages from the project will be delivered to Washington. Friday Linn mailed DVDs to the entire Indiana congressional delegation, both Indiana senators and Governor Mitch Daniels.
"We hope that sometime over this holiday period that they'll sit down and watch these interviews and get some good ideas," Linn said.
All 28 interviews are also in the hands of President Obama. After an interview at the White House, Debby Knox from our sister station handed him the DVD on Thursday. He thanked her and said he planned to look at it.
Saturday NewsChannel 15 continues our coverage of saving America with a special Focus 15. In the hour-long special you can see recaps and excerpts from all 28 interviews and we sit down with Congressman Marlin Stutzman and Senator Dan Coats.
"We know government is in a gridlock and we know though that people need help. They're hurting and that's what government is for. So I hope they'll watch these and get some good ideas and put them to work," Linn said.
Focus 15: Saving America airs Saturday at 7 p.m. on WANE-TV.
