Fatal accident on US 6 shuts down road

WATERLOO, Ind. (WANE) US 6 in Waterloo is closed between County Road 24 and Grant Street because of a fatal accident.

According to officials on the scene, a man driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee was driving east on US 6 around 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

The driver of the Jeep went left of the center line and hit the rear trailer axle of a semi that was heading west.

The driver of the Jeep was declared dead on the scene. The passenger in the Jeep suffered minor injuries.

The semi driver was uninjured.

US 6 will remain closed as the scene is investigated.
