FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Dr. Tom Hayhurst is focusing on jobs for northeast Indiana during the start of his congressional campaign Monday morning.

About 600 volunteers showed up to support and help with his campaign trail for the Democratic Party

“There’s been a big drop off in quality jobs here. We now have five of the highest of the ten highest unemployment counties in Indiana,” said Hayhurst.

He will be focusing on international trade reform and tax credits for businesses, trying to bring new jobs to northeast Indiana.

“I think we need to take a look at that and give breaks to businesses to encourage them to open up plants,” said Hayhurst.

In his campaign, Hayhurst talked about the health care bill, he said the tax credit break can help businesses get health care for their employees.

He is planning on campaigning in Warsaw, Goshen, Angola and Columbia City.
