BLUFFTON, Ind. (WANE) - Four fire departments battled a house fire outside Bluffton early Tuesday morning.

Around 1:30 a.m., Bluffton firefighters responded to home in the 4900 block of County Home Road, near East 500 South, about six miles southeast of Bluffton.

Bluffton Fire Chief Bob Plummer said the fire started in the garage and spread throughout the home.

At least three residents inside made it out safely, according to fire officials.

Plummer said the homeowner told officials he was previously working in the garage using space heaters, but officials have not determined what caused the fire.

The home sustained heavy fire, smoke, and water damage.

No injuries were reported.

The Bluffton Fire Department was assisted by the Berne Fire Department, Nottingham Township Fire Department, Poneto Fire Department, Wells Co. EMS, and Wells Co. Sheriff's Department.
