FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne business will invite people of all artistic abilities a chance to mentally escape February in the Midwest on Saturday. Glass Link, an art glass studio and education center hosts “Winter Doldrums Festival 2011” from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Glass Link owner, Danielle Payne, says tapping into the creative side can be therapeutic during long winter months, “You’re trapped indoors, you don’t know what to do with yourself so why not do something creative, make something beautiful,” she said. “It’s meditative. You just forget about all your worries while you’re working on [the art.]”

Payne opened Glass Link almost nine years ago. The business offers workshops and classes for clientele to learn to make colorful glass creations like jewelry, mosaics and stained glass.

“Everybody has a creative side, a lot of people think they don’t; they’re wrong,” Payne said.

Class costs include instruction, materials, firing and studio time and range in price from $15-$90.

Glass Link is located at 516 Noble Drive in Fort Wayne.

NewsChannel 15’s Drew Blair visited Glass Link and created a project of her own as part of her “Drew’s To Do” series. Watch the segment which aired on First News Saturday by clicking the video box.
