FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Allen County Coroner has identified the man shot on Avondale Drive Tuesday as Brandon Portee, 23, Fort Wayne and has confirmed he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Police identified a man Wednesday they want to question in connection with the shooting that took place in Fort Wayne on Tuesday evening. David Alexander Johnson is considered armed and dangerous.
The shooting took place in the 4000 block of Avondale Drive.
Portee was taken originally to the hospital in critical condition, but was later pronounced dead.
Johnson is described as a male black, 5’9”, 190 lbs, medium complexion, muscular build, scar on left eye, tattoo ‘guilty’ on left arm, tattoo ‘not’ on right arm. He is believed to be traveling towards Gary, Indiana.
A preliminary investigation indicated there was a disturbance inside on the house on the southwest corner of Richardsville and Avondale. It included males and females and continued outside onto Avondale Drive. A male involved in the disturbance came outside with a gun and shot Portee.
A white car was found close to Portee at the time of the shooting. It was towed so that investigators can find out if it was involved.
Allen County Coroner Jon Brandenberger added Portee's death is Fort Wayne and Allen County's sixth homicide for 2010.
