FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - It's cleanup time for thousands of people in the Midwest after two rounds of severe weather hit on Wednesday.
Early reports came out of Monroeville where some trees were sheared off at the base and some even uprooted.
Throughout Fort Wayne and the Newschannel 15 viewing area there are reports of damaged homes and power outages.
Goshen Road between Independence and Butler in Fort Wayne is closed. Crews are working to clear debris from a building that is damaged.
Traffic Operations for the City of Fort Wayne reported they are working to restore five traffic signals that are out. They are:
- Fairfield and Taylor
- Lafayette and Tillman
- New Haven and Lumbard
Drivers should treat any traffic signal that is not operating, as a four-way stop.
No word on when that area will be cleared.
Crews are also working to restore electricity.
At the height of the power outages, I & M reported more than 3,500 customers in Allen County alone were without power.
Now, 3,100 customers remain without power in Allen County and, as of 10:00 a.m., over 17,000 are without power in the listen area.
