FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A Fort Wayne attorney has announced he will run against incumbent U.S. Congressman Mark Souder in the 2010 Republican primary.
At a news conference held Tuesday at the Chestnut Hills Clubhouse, Phil Troyer, 45, formally announced his candidacy. Troyer is an attorney for financial service firm, NRP Financial. In a news release, Troyer said he had no intentions of leaving the private sector until Souder voted for the $700 billion bailout.
Troyer was an aide to U.S. senators Dan Coats (R-IN) and Richard Lugar (R-IN). He also served as a campaign manager for Rick Hawks' 1990 congressional challenge race.
Rachel Grubb will also challenge Souder in the primary.
