Boy hit by bus identified

The boy hit and killed by a school bus in Indianapolis Friday has been identified.

The boy was Christopher Beltz, 10.
Police said Beltz got off a bus in the parking lot, ran between some parked cars and then in front of another bus in the lane next to Spring Mill Elementary School.

The school's superintendent says students are typically dropped off next to the school.

Police say the driver thought she had run over ice or snow until she saw a backpack on the pavement.

At least two children may have witnessed the accident.

Parents were immediately notified by an automated message.
