FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A city spokesperson confirmed to NewsChannel 15 Monday evening that Fort Wayne's 911 Communications Director has been placed on administrative leave.

Tina Taviano has held this position since January, 2008. Her primary duties include overseeing the city's 911 call center.

City Police Chief Rusty York tells NewsChannel 15, there was an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint filed against Taviano within the last few weeks. The Commission deals with employment discrimination, diversity, harrassment, gender and labor issues. However York would not say whether this complaint had anything to do with Taviano's leave.

Taviano ran for sheriff against Ken Fries in 2006 on the democratic ticket and lost.  The city is being very tight lipped as to why she's been placed on leave, as well as for how long.

In the interim, Captain Tom Bandor will take over the operations while Taviano is on leave.  Stay tuned to NewsChannel 15 for the latest.
