President Obama told Reddit users to ask him anything at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday: “I am Barack Obama, President of the United States – AMA.”

The president tweeted from his official @BarackObama handle to verify that it was in fact him on Reddit, not an imposter.

Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions are question and answer sessions within the Reddit community. Anyone can submit questions and users can vote "up" their favorite questions to move it up the queue to give it more visibility.

The president posted at 4:15  that he would be holding the AMA at 4:30 and, according to PC Mag , by the time the president logged in, the page was already loaded with questions.

President Obama answered questions on campaign financing, internet freedom, the face program and even who his favorite basketball play is ("Jordan – I’m a Bulls guy")

President Obama wrote the following as he signed off the AMA session:

I need to get going so I’m back in DC in time for dinner. But I want to thank everybody at reddit for participating – this is an example of how technology and the internet can empower the sorts of conversations that strengthen our democracy over the long run. AND REMEMBER TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER – if you need to know how to register, go to http://gottaregister.com. By the way, if you want to know what I think about this whole reddit experience – NOT BAD!
